If you don't have anything nice to say...

INSIDE:
Hello Goodbye.
I heart Cadel club.
Pinarello Super 11.
Top ten.
Girls on bikes.
and so much more....

JA MATA NE!

There's a fair chance this post will be added to so come back and check...

You can't remaster perfection.

Billy Preston on keyboard.

If you dont have anything nice to say...

Don't say anything at all.

Just post it on a forum.

Bile.

I'm not a fan of the acidic lining of the stomach - or re-issues.

Call me a retro grouch all you want - a flat or even a sloping crown beats a unicrown EVERY time.

Eddy, if you need someone in marketing, I'm right here.

For the same price, have a Sunday in HEAVEN!

Even fyxo replica's are tastier.

Things you can and can't do.

You cannot rush genius.  You can do anything if you are patient.

Back in the day, Turbo at the workshop of ANOTHER genius - M.E. of Extreme Designs.

3 years, meticulous searching, and sourcing, and then assembly late one night in the lair...

Turbo's Super-C Ciocc.

Cinelli suede saddle,  Cobolto brakes adorned with REAL sapphires and SYNT brake pads, close to NOS throughout.

'Ciao' photos to come, but here's a peek.

The Pro Scene

Yawn.

Cadel.  What a dill.

http://www.cyclingfans.com/2008_paris_nice_cadel_evans_robert_gesink_mont_ventoux.jpg

Cracking the sads because someone in SECOND place wants to pass you when you are leading is called 'RACING', Cadel.

Being quoted verbally rubbishing that rider, then blogging hours later what a nice guy he is - Who are you kidding?

If you took me up on my street race offer you'd know all about racing, and what it takes to win.  Starts with 'C'.

EPO study

No, not evening primose oil, the other one.

It's no secret that Cadel is clean as a whistle, and a fair bet that a lot of the peleton is filthy.

A trial to uncover that latest fad, microdosing is looking for EPO guinea pigs - and you could be one!

Cycling won't be much of a spectacle watching only Cadel roll around, but if that's what the UCI wants....

SHIFTERBIKES v FYXOMATOSIS

Dan and I have been 'collaborating' for a while.

Pretty simple recipe.

Customer chooses the frame, gives us a brief, and we make it 'ebb' visually and functionally to the best of our abilities.

LT's Pinarello Montello SLX, with Super Record 11.

The frame came chromed to begin with. All pantographed and etched elements filled with paint by hand, including the bottom bracket rim.

Dan removed ONE single thread from the fork so no spacer was required, the lock nut washer sitting flush on top.

Also machined down the front brake bolt so it fit perfectly in the hole made smaller by the increase in chrome material. Run three sets of taps through the dropout adjusters for a perfect thread.

With 11 gears in the rear and a emo skinny chain, there is a whsiker between crisp changes, and crud, especially when trying to make it work on a vintage steel chassis. Dan aligned aligned the rear hanger so all gears change perfectly.

Just the usual attention to detail you've come to love from shifter bikes.

Free tattoo with every build.

What is wrong with this picture?

I see this far too often, just aren't quick enough on the draw most of the time.

I'm giving the helmet crusade a rest - here is all the reason you need.

Red Devil.

Direct your disgust to VICROADs / VICTORIAN POLICE / WW

Talkin' the talk.

So to celebrate my 2 year anniversary of 'keeping it real' I joined SW and 3000 others to ride the same road I took a tumble on.

Nothing like an old bike, changing tubs in the rain, and blue rabbits to make for an epic day out.

A time when Super Record was 12 speed, not 11.

Another highlight was rubbing shoulders with the owner of Udo Bolt's Mazda Team bike for 1989.  Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra with Suntour Superbe Pro.

His dad wrenched for the team on the Sun Tour and arranged to buy the bike after the tour.  Still had the sponsors on the top tube.

Udo pictured right in Telekom days - Der Kaiser left.

Baked fresh.

Before I got it all dirty, I baked some Campagnolo croissants in the oven.

A day in the life.

Big wheels keep on turning...

Stuck my head in at Kaos.

If they can't wheelie it - they dont sell it.

Writers block.

Sometimes it's not easy to find something funny, interesting or intelligent to post.

Belinda Goss was asking for suggestions for her piece for a magazine, struggling to whip something up LAST MINUTE.

All I can suggest is be yourself, write from the heart and it'll be good.

Or cut n paste.

Best Alleycat Flyer ever?

Broox is clearly a fan of earlier work.

 http://fyxomatosis.com/images/stories/photography/bikes/Summer_fling/merckx9.jpg

It's my favourite too.

 Brunswick Street.

David Russell snapped me doing 60kph in the bike lane - about half a second before my Gerro salute!

 http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=eab4f53734&view=att&th=123abb254d4532f6&attid=0.1&disp=inline&zw

and I snapped Anna Meares doing WELL OVER 60kph at Revolution 3 last year - she'll be using this image to give to her fans.

Projects.

Built a 'wife' bike for a steel aficianado.  Concorde Strada - Campagnolo 9V

You know what they say - A happy wife...

Top Ten

If you've been following fyxomatosis since its birth back in 2003, or even of late, there are some posts which are no longer.

Email onlinefyx(at)gmail.com your favourites, and I'll do my best to drag them back to life.

Now - Off to the post office!

 then Japan.

2 years on.

Hard to believe 2 years has passed - and I feel like I never broke my neck.

But I did.

C1 in fact, and C5 and C6 spinus process.

Those 3 months in a halo flew by in hindsight.

So if you are new to following fyxomatosis, here's an insight into my fervour for helmets.

The most chilling thing I've ever been told was by my surgeon who said I will walk, and the patient before me (who had a similiar accident) will not.

3 months looking like a freak.

4 titanium bolts piercing into the first layer of bone, making kids cry in the checkout, unable to sleep, drive, ride, showering once a fortnight - I learned my lesson, as always - the hard way.

The post before I set out on that ride 2 years ago had  the song below. The Boss hates. it - for good reason.

I love it.

It's a good reminder of how good life is, no matter how bad it gets, it can always be worse.  Much worse.

This is my way of saying goodbye.

See you when I'm back.

Ride safe
