Wrenching away...
MondayitisUs and them.
I always get emails asking from people wanting to be a courier.
Lesson 1 - Stand by.
My earliest courier memory was riding from Wimbledon like a mad man from Mercury HQ to Marylebone station, big ringin' it, where I was to call my dispatcher.
'Zero Three, Marylebone station, standing by.'
'Ok Zero Three, standby'
5 minutes pass. I make the same call.
'Zero three, continue to stand by'.
10 mins. I call again.
'Zero three, I know where you are, continue to stand by'.
An hour passed, I'd perched myself on a wall observing life go by at the station. Was my radio flat, or out of range?
'Zero Three, are you ready?
Of all the cities I've worked, London, Berlin, San Francisco, and Vancouver, New York is the only one where there is no real central place to stand by and hang out with your colleagues. It's too vast.
