Urban Cycling Hall of Fame

Word on the street.

There is now a place that recognises the work of cyclists who may never set foot on a podium, but enrichen the fabric of the streets and even the internet.

The Urban Cycling Hall Of Fame (UCHOF) has launched in conjunction with Chrome Industries. I feel priveledged to be one of the innaugral selection commitee,  alongside lifetime peers who have been constant inspiration to do what I do, and do it better.

If you know someone or work with someone who should be considered for the UCHOF you can nominate them here, and more on the project at the UCHOF corner of the web.

10-4 / Roger.

Double header.

It has been said Melburn is Australia's Cultural home of cycling. People ask why it is so good here, and I'd like to think in some small way FYXO is part of it.

Falling 'in Like' with the aid of a bike

Twas at Clifton hill this morn, trying to find a bike seat,

at the Melburn Bicycle swap and meet.

Biding time in the $2 coffee line

i met a pommy lad clad with a skate...pad (board)

the coffee was strong the chit chat long

I fell 'in like' right next to my bike

with the funny brit who is moving to Bris in a bit

With a hug, we said bye bye, i feel really lame

Leon was his name.

We've been expecting you.

It wasn't so long ago I said I'd never open up a bike shop - but I have learnt to never say never and the FYXO Hub is not a bike shop in the traditional sense, just a physical extension of this little place in the ether. Besides, the World's Best bike shop is next door.

It's about time.

Drag out those stock piled parts from your man cave, bring your unfinished projects, eat drink and be merry.

Classic chase

In this modern society that is more accepting of a man crush and bromance I'm comfortable in admitting that Fabian Cancellara was in my top ten.

Telaio Perfecto

I had the chance to meet the man behind the name in his own shop - Giovanni Pinarello. I can't speak Italian, Giovanni can speak no english - but we share a love of beautiful frames. I handed him a FYXO postcard and his immediate comment was Telaio Perfecto / Perfect frame. Something tells me he was not referring to the bike if the cheeky grin on Giovanni's face was any indication.

Friday Geography lesson

When I think of Estonia, the last thing I think of is bicycles. I think of Russian neighbours, bitter cold winters, beautiful women. Risto (from Estonia) sent me an electronical mail from this place I know little about.

In contrast, I'm sure Estonian's think of Australia as a hot and dry desert, with nothing but Kangaroos, Great White's and that we speak funny.
