New Stuff

Stolen from Stevil.

Out with the old.

Yes, this is old. If you've been following FYXO this was on the old site - remember when it was all 555555 / grey? Back then.

First, I'll openly admit that tartan would have been the last thing I'd use on a bike and most would agree save Chris Hoy and all of Scotland. Particularly a BT. I'm working on a BT project of my own but in terms of 'offyacruet' crazy paint, they don't get any more elaborate than this.

When Turbo picked up this frame it was the stock yellow - which was putrid on the eyes. Word was it had seen some speed and broken some records under the legs that propelled it but it was never made public by whom.

For months, Turbo would hang out at Mat's whenever he had a moment free. First, sand back the original paint to the raw carbon. Once the canvas was blank the concept really moved forward. The larger tubes lend themselves to greater creativity than standard 1" tubes. Custom printed vinyl for the tartan was the initial step, then layer upon layer of paints, metallics, masks, stencils, splashes. The result of the bike was more amazing in terms of the skill and hours and weeks required to achieve it. Tartan will never be my taste, but if I ever wanted a helmet painted, and Anna I hope you are reading this, rather than use electrical tape to make racing stripes, I'd get Turbo to get busy on it.

Mad Machine.

Also has prototype BREV. FYXO chainrings on it. That long ago.
