The right tool for the job

If you are wondering what bike to ride for Melburn Roobaix, here is one suggestion.

Not only is this bike FREE, but it's also equipped with 3 speeds, big tyres, a comfy seat and best of all, at the end of the day you won't have to clean it.

Melburn Bike Share have kindly offered to allow all and sundry, registered riders, or heckling sector spectators to ride one of their bikes all Sunday 24 June for nothing.

If you are coming from afar and fear packing your bike into the belly of a plane, then here is a solution other than scoring an MTB from Cash Converters for $50 or CERES for $5.

They also hold an advantage over many bikes for their ability to carry baguettes.

Cadel Evans, who is also an ambassador for Melburn Bike Share recently raced on one, and I got Dave McKenzie to pose the question to the current Tour de France champion.

I'm curious to know if anyone will manage to lay claim to the single YELLOW bike share vehicle for Melburn Roobaix.   Sounds like something I could give a prize for.

If you are keen to take the blue bike (or yellow) on a path its not really designed, for abuse it can barely handle, here is the details.

The process

To choose a bluey as your weapon of choice on Sunday 24 June :

1.  Find a Bike station

2.  Follow the instructions.  You will need your credit card.

3.  Give the bike a solid pounding on the pave from start to finish.

4.  Return bike to any station.

5.  Call 1300 711 590 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - mention Melburn Roobaix, your name and voila!  Any charge to your credit card will be refunded.

If you bump into Cadel between now and Sunday 24 June,  give him a sharpie!
