Ciao! V.2

In the summer of 2004 I travelled to Vancouver to work as a bike courier. While searching for jobs as such, jumping through the hoops of getting a BICYCLE COURIER LICENSE I worked as a dish pig at the Cambie Hotel.

After getting a job as a wheeled delivery person, and slugging it out with perhaps the worst courier company in town I was eventually recruited by Phantom Couriers. At the end of my time in Vancouver I had a minor exhibition at Phantom HQ of the photos I'd taken at work, of fellow couriers, from alleycats and these CIAO! portraits.

It was a time when the track bike renaissance was in it's infancy. Only a handful of couriers were riding track bikes in Vancouver, fewer were riding them brakeless. I was spreading the disease.

Photograhpy has always been a healthy distraction during work, a way of documenting my days and places I'd delivered to, and has become a distraction for many of you, for many years now.

Enjoy.
